What Happens When You Finally Step in Front of the Camera?
If the thought of stepping in front of a camera makes your stomach flip or makes you feel a little wobbly in the knees…. you’re not alone!
I hear it every day (seriously)…. tell me if any of these sound familiar to you:
“I’m not photogenic.”
“I’m too awkward.”
”I’m not sexy.”
“I need to lose weight first.”
”I don’t look like the women you photograph.”
And yet... every woman who’s ever walked through my doors has walked out saying at least one of these:
“That was not what I expected it to be like!”
“I cannot believe I waited so long to do this!”
“I’m so happy that I finally did this for myself!”
Here’s what actually happens during a session:
The nerves melt faster than you expect…. First off, we are going to spend a lot of time talking before your session so that you know me a little better and I know exactly what you are wanting from your session. Then, on your session day…. it’s like being with old friends! We laugh, we ask questions, and we become new friends!
You start realizing you don’t have to know how to pose …..that’s my job! I do my best not to be an arrogant person but I am very, very good at posing you in the most flattering way for your body shape and size.
You feel yourself shift from self-conscious to self-aware... and then to self-celebrating…. because let’s be real…. if you can have your photos taken half naked, what can’t you do in life??
You start seeing yourself in a completely different way…. not the way society tries to force us into, but the way that shows the fullness of who you are as a woman living right now.
I’ll be honest… most women walk in thinking they’re doing this for someone else. They’ll even say, ‘It’s a gift for my partner… but also for me.’ But if I could wrap my arms around you right now and pour every ounce of truth into you, it would be this: That sentence? It should simply be…. ‘This is for me.’
A session like this isn’t just about the end result of photos. It’s about experiencing an instance in life that reflects some truths you may have forgotten:
That you are powerful. That you are whole. And that every version of you has always been enough.
