The Shift to Black & White

For years, my heart has always been drawn to black and white photography. If you have ever sat in a viewing with me I’m sure you’ve heard me say something along the lines of, “I always pick black and white photos over color ones.”  To me, black and white images are timeless, intimate, and resonate emotionally with me more than color ever could. The first time I remember seriously considering this transition was back in 2018.

But I hesitated.

For a long time, I held the belief that no longer offering color photos would mean losing potential clients. And truthfully, that fear isn’t completely gone from my mind.

However, I’m optimistic that my artwork will continue to connect with a variety of women, and I know, deep down, that the best work I can produce as an artist is via black and white images. In order to only offer the most authentic photos that I can as a professional boudoir photographer, I can no longer dismiss the desire to shoot only in monochrome.

Moving forward, Angela Blake Studios will only offer black and white images for boudoir sessions.

My mission has always been to create a space where every woman feels safe, seen, celebrated, and completely herself. A place where vulnerability turns into strength, courage yields confidence and self-image becomes something positive, not painful.

That mission isn’t changing. But from now on, your story will be told in a language that feels the most genuine to me, black and white images.
